Melo Suspended One Game

Carmelo Anthony has been suspended for one game without pay for confronting Boston’s Kevin Garnett in the arena tunnel, near the players’ locker rooms, and in the parking garage following the Celtics at Knicks game Monday, the NBA announced.

“There are no circumstances in which it is acceptable for a player to confront an opponent after a game,” NBA Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations Stu Jackson said. “Carmelo Anthony attempted to engage with Kevin Garnett multiple times after Monday’s game and therefore a suspension was warranted.”

Anthony traveled to Indiana Wednesday with the team, but will serve his suspension Thursday when the Knicks play the Pacers at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.

He will be eligible to play Friday night against the Chicago Bulls at Madison Square Garden.

Garnett reportedly said Anthony’s wife, La La Vasquez, “tastes like Honey Nut Cheerios,” but Anthony wouldn’t say exactly what was said.

Anthony said Tuesday he didn’t expect to be suspended.

“Nothing happened for me to be suspended,” he said. “I went, I wanted to talk to ‘KG.’ I think it was something that we both needed to get off our chests to see what really was the problem.

“It was no altercations, it was just a word in confidence that we needed to have. We move on from here.”

Here’s Melo talking about it Wednesday:

I have no direct knowledge if there is a new Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) investigation. It is common knowledge that prescription drug abuse is a DEA priority nationwide. However, the DEA has been working in cooperation with the NFL and team physicians for at least four years. Several years ago, the DEA even presented information and answered questions at the NFL Physicians Society annual conference as part of the annual Combine.

Team physicians are well aware of the DEA rules and no one from the DEA has ever charged a team physician with breaking the law related to prescription drugs. The “new” story might be “old” news.

This is from NFP monday morning MD, Dr. David Chao...

Wouldn't be the first time the Daily News has used old news and presented it as new...

I can't believe Mahela Jayawardene is retiring from Test.  He's only 37 and tied for sixth on the record run scores list.  I wonder if he's considering coming to MLC to bolster the international popularity.  Perhaps Bassett and company can find some room between the World Cup, NBA, MLB, and WNBA to make a few cricket predictions.

@Joey Cimino I don't think we should stop at having him replaced. We should consider tar and feathering. Possibly quartering.

I only know one thing about cricket:

Hank is a lifelong fan of the Rajasthan Royals, but ever since they fired head coach Prajeet Samulamangini and replaced him with that brash loudmouth Paddy Upton, he's been following and rooting for the Chennai SuperKings and the Royal Challengers Banagalore pretty heavily.

Bangalore hasn't won anything in years, but this is the year they finally break through, you guys.

I'm sure there's some medical researchers somewehere who could use a live subject on which to test vaccines against communicable diseases.

I'd like to RESPOND but I'm afraid my comment will mysteriously get DELETE?!!  Right Bent?  You continue to post LIES and REFUSE to answer my SIMPLE question.  If Upton is such a GREAT HIRE then why is Mr. Samulamangini bashing the entire roster DOWNGRADE??  And it doesn't bother you that billions of Indians live in POVERTY??? DOES IT?  Or are they not DARK SKINNED enough for you to CARE?

MORE LIES?  MORE?  NO FOUL LANGUAGE BENT!!!!  So why is this comment awaiting MODERATION before I even posted it?

Well I will say this...since I joined this crusade yesterday...We have added close to 150 signatures; 229 in total since Chris M. started this petition on July 9th.

I am going to try to get as many signatures as I can in the following weeks, and then I will start contacting ESPN and The New York Jets media department and will apply pressure that way. I visit these blogs every day as part of my morning routine (like many other die-hard Jets fans), and have no problem pasting that petition in the comment section. I am tired of reading his articles that are designed to antagonize and ridicule our fan base.

@Joey Cimino Good luck, dude. But you will need thousands and thousands, so get the word out any way you can. Perhaps you can tweet it at a bunch directed at #JetsTwitter and some of the blogs to see if you can get a RT.

Who in your opinion is funny?  I have heard much about who is not funny, but I would be intrigued to know who would make the cut.

My guess: Ron White, Jeff Foxworthy, Bill Engvall and Sam Kinison

I don't even know who those guys are...

guys playing stupid and dumb just don't amuse me.

Who does?  Who does amuse you?

That was the question.

I don't watch stand-up comedians...so I really don't have anyone to name for you.

@a57se @tsjc68

I was just thinking Texas/country comedy(Kinison was just out of left field though).

So I guess we need to start quoting more Chan and I am guessing that "Blazing Saddles" would possibly quallify as humorous.

Brendan
Brendan

@a57se I can appreciate Chan's movies, the fact that he does his own stunts, how he's great at physical humor....but that's the first thing you think of when you think "humor"?

Bent
Bent moderator

@jsadolph I will make an effort to quote more Chan too.

a57se
a57se

@jsadolph

I can't stand Larry the Cable Guy and comedians like him...not much humor their to me.

Blazing Saddles was not very funny to me either.

The only Mel brooks movie I ever liked was Young Frankenstein...that had some funny spots.

a57se
a57se

@Brendan @a57se

I am hard pressed to come with anything that is remotely relevant today as funny.

I thought Idiocracy was very funny in spots but that movie is 8 years old.

I was never a big fan of Adam Sandler, Jim Carrey (though some of his stuff is OK), the Belushis'.

Will Farell is just plain stupid to me...can't stand his movies. Ricky Bobby or whatever...

What can I say?

Maybe because I don't get drunk or stoned...who knows?

a57se
a57se

@Bent @jsadolph

That's the thing, he isn't very quotable most of the time but he makes you laugh anyway...his physical brand of humor is very well done.

His acting was not very good in his earlier movies but still they were funny because of his movements and mannerisms..The legend of Drunken Master comes to mind....

One of the funniest scenes ever is from that movie and it wasn't even Jackie Chan's part...

Do you know what I am talking about?

Brendan
Brendan

@a57se Whoa. You've said a lot of things on here I took exception to, but this might be the worst thing you've EVER said.

Blazing Saddles.....not very funny? Not very funny!?!? Oh god. The pain. The horror.

jsadolph
jsadolph

@a57se @Brendan

I've got to admit that I am with you on Ferrell and Sandler.  Jim Carrey's early stuff was good, but his later stuff is boring to me.

Brendan
Brendan

@a57se "Maybe because I don't get drunk or stoned...who knows?"

You don't see how this is offensive to people, do you?

Millions (literally) of people find those people you listed funny, not all of them "get drunk or stoned." That's not what makes those comedians/actors funny.

Bent
Bent moderator

@a57se @Bent @jsadolph The original one?  I've seen it, not sure what scene you're referring to off the top of my head though.  The most memorable scene is with the King of Sticks and the manure.

That's the amazing thing about Jackie Chan, he often lets someone else steal the limelight with the best scene/line/stunt.

Sitting around a campfire, eating beans and farting? Seriously?

i did that in 5th grade, it was funny then.

Remember the main bad guy and his magic leg???

How often before a fight do guys do a flurry of moves to show off and loosen up?

Then this guy with the crazy legs does it...I found that so frickin' funny i was rolling on the floor...

Brendan
Brendan

@a57se Fair enough, I'm just letting you know those kinds of comments are the type to be taken that way.

There are varying reasons those people are considered funny, and their humor stretches age/racial barriers fairly regularly.

Not your thing, which is fine, I was just curious what you saw in Chan vs. some of them.

a57se
a57se

@Bent @a57se @jsadolph

This was shortly before the end of the movie...right before jackie started drinking the kerocene to get drunk...

a57se
a57se

@Brendan @a57se

I don't laugh non-stop through a Jackie Chan movie but his humor is more 'natural' to my sensibilities...

He is not playing a moron who does moronic things...like a lot of the 'comedians' today.

Bent

@a57se @Brendan I love Jackie Chan and I could see how it would appeal to someone from an older generation due to the similarities with someone like Buster Keaton (seriously).

His old foreign films are better than the US ones IMO though.

@a57se @Brendan

That is what I think about "RED".  It is strange that Bruce Willis and John Malkvich and Helen Miren could make a funny movie.  But it worked.

a57se
a57se

@Bent @a57se @Brendan

Jerry Lewis was very good at physical comedy...he was also a very good dramatic actor though he rarely did anything but comedies.

Jack Lemmon was another fine comedic actor.

@Bent @a57se @Brendan

There are some funny scenes and lines throughout...

Arya and the Hound provided a few this past season...I love when she asks him if he is stupid after he admits he didn't steal anything of value before leaving Kings' Landing!

The scene with Pod, Tyrion and Bronn after Pod returns Tyrions coin bag because the girls wouldn't take the money from Pod...

Other moments as well...

Ygritte was a funny character.  Brienne and Jamie's road trip was constantly funny.  Theon?  Hilarious.
