Twenty-five days after saying that suspended forward Chane Behanan would be out for “a long time,” Louisville coach Rick Pitino reinstated the 6-foot-6 forward Monday and said he would dress for Tuesday’s game against Hofstra.

Behanan practiced Friday and Pitino said on Monday he had met the criteria to return.

“I had a target of 30 straight days doing the right things,” Pitino said, according to Eric Crawford. “. . . It went 30 great days. It surprised the heck out of me.”

At the Oct. 17 news conference in which he announced Behanan’s suspension, Pitino said, “Chane Behanan is no longer a part of our basketball team.”

That lasted less than a month.

The 6-foot-6 Behanan averaged 9.8 points and 6.5 rebounds last season when Louisville won the NCAA championship.

Pitino also announced that Luke Hancock, the MOP of the Final Four, had returned to practice from injuries to his left ankle and Achilles and will dress Tuesday.
