OCU became the first school since Life (Ga.) in 2000 to win consecutive NAIA crowns when it beat Mountain State (W. Va.), 75-72.
Ollie Bailey, a senior from Chicago who played at Rutgers before transferring, was named to the all-tournament team and became OCU’s first NAIA player of the year award winner.
Willie Irick, a 6-6 forward from Teaneck, N.J., was also a standout for the team.
Caracter was offered a chance by head coach Rick Pitino to return to the Louisville team for the 2009-10 season, but is apparently considering transferring.
Former Tennessee point guard Ramar Smith will also play for Oklahoma City.
