Jeylani Dublin, a 6-foot-6 forward from Longwood, will transfer to Iona and be eligible immediately in 2014-15 as a graduate transfer.

The Brooklyn native has one year remaining.

He averaged 10.4 points and 4.2 rebounds last season.

“Iona has been recruiting me ever since I received my release,” Dublin told SNY.tv. “They showed the most interest and the coaches were really cool guys. They program also has a winning history. My main goal is to win games and make it to the NCAA Tournament. They also have a hardworking group of returnees who are eager to win.

“I see myself as an aggressive forward with a solid mid-range game. I’m good at driving from any wing position and finishing through contact at the basket. I crash the glass hard on both defensive and offensive end. I’m all about making my teammates better. Iona’s system is great because everyone gets touches and the players aren’t selfish at all. That’s where we will make each other better.”

Iona also adds 6-6 left-handed JUCO forward Najeal Young and 5-foot-10 point guard Schadrac Casimir from South Kent (Conn.)

Iona lost four seniors to graduation.

    MONMOUTH LANDS OU TRANSFER HORNBEAK

Monmouth landed Oklahoma transfer Je’Lon Hornbeak, a 6-4 guard who averaged 5.1 points and 2.6 assists last season.

He will sit out next year and be eligible in 2015-16.

As noted by Josh Newman, Monmouth coach King Rice has also added Providence transfer Brice Kofane and Prime Prep (Texas) guard Micah Seaborn, a teammate of SMU guard Emmanuel Mudiay.

Newman also reported SMU will host Monmouth Nov. 30 at Moody Coliseum.

FDU ADDS 5TH COMMIT IN POTTS

FDU added 6-6, 195-pound combo guard Earl Potts Jr. to its recruiting class.

Potts Jr is the fifth member of a class that already includes Devine Eke, Darian Anderson, Terrell Baggley and Marques Townes.

“I am very excited about Earl joining our program,” head coach Greg Herenda said. “Earl is a great fit for our style of basketball and for the great education that he will receive here at Fairleigh Dickinson.”

Potts Jr. just completed a year of prep school at Coastal Academy in Belmar, N.J. He was named to the 2014 National Prep School Invitational All-Tournament Team after constructing several nice games, including a 27-point, 11-rebound effort while averaging 20.0 points and 10.5 rebounds per game over two contests.

“Earl is not only an incredible athlete, but he is very skilled and will add another dimension to our front court,” Herenda said. “We are really happy to receive his commitment.”
