Providence Sends Whole Staff to Watch Mitchell

Providence head coach Ed Cooley and his whole staff were on hand Sunday night at the Hoophall Classic to watch Donovan Mitchell, a 6-foot-3 2015 combo guard from Brewster (N.H.) Academy.

“It was really nice,” Mitchell told after scoring 13 points in Brewster’s 91-73 victory over Wilbraham & Monson. “It shows that they are really interested in me.”

Mitchell also recently visited Florida and has taken in a UConn game. He currently holds offers from Iowa, Providence, Boston College, Cincinnati, Creighton, Maryland, UConn, St. John’s, Seton Hall, Fordham, Florida and Marquette with interest from Kansas.

UCLA coach Steve Alford was also on hand to watch Brewster forward and 2014 Bruins commit Jonah Bolden, who went for 9 points, 12 rebounds and 5 blocks in the win.

Providence, meantime, is expected to watch 2014 St. Anthony point guard Tarin Smith on Monday at the Hoophall.  Smith told last week he could make a decision soon.

On Saturday, Smith went for 15 points when St. Anthony beat Blair Academy, 45-38, at the Dan Finn Classic in Jersey City, N.J.
