Chicago Curie big man Cliff Alexander took his final official visit this weekend to in-state school Illinois.
“It was great,” his mother, Latillia Alexander, told SNY.tv. “We had a great time like all the other visits.”
She added: “The coaching staff was great. They really make you feel like a family, and that plays an important part in our decision. I need to know that my son is going to be taken care of on and off the court. He might just be Cliff Alexander to most people, but he’s still my baby.”
The 6-foot-9 Alexander is down to a final five of Illinois, DePaul, Michigan State, Kansas and Memphis and will announce Nov. 15 on ESPNU.
Alexander’s Mac Irvin Fire teammate Jahlil Okafor visited Duke this weekend along with Minnesota point guard Tyus Jones and Houston wing Justise Winslow.
Kansas is also in the mix for both Okafor and Jones, but would appear unlikely to get both Okafor and Alexander, although Okafor is a center and Alexander a power forward.
Alexander visited Kansas for “Late Night in the Phog” and has a strong relationship with assistant coach Jerrance Howard.
Alexander also visited Memphis Oct. 18 with JaQuan Lyle. He and Lyle have talked about packaging together in college, but that may not necessarily happen.
Latillia said they may still take an unofficial to Michigan State but not nothing is set.
