BriscoeIsaiah Briscoe, one of the top guards in the class of 2015, may wait until the spring of 2015 to sign, his father confirmed to SNY.tv.

“Yeah, there’s a possibility,” George Briscoe said Wednesday by phone, confirming comments he made to Zack Cziryak of the Seton Hall Rivals site.

“We want to see who’s leaving, who’s at those teams. It’s just not a rush.”

Briscoe’s recruitment has gone on for some time now and has had its ebbs and flows. He’s considering St. John’s, Rutgers, Seton Hall, Louisville, Providence, Arizona, Syracuse, Duke, UConn and Florida, among others.

Louisville head coach Rick Pitino is due in to watch Briscoe work out on Monday at Roselle (N.J.) Catholic, RC coach Dave Boff told SNY.tv.

UConn is also involved and is obviously coming off winning the NCAA championship.

“[Coach Kevin Ollie] reached out, but you know how it goes,” George said. “If ‘Saiah don’t pull the trigger quick, they’ll pick up the next guy. That’s the world of recruiting.”

St. John’s, which must score a big 2015 recruiting class, holds appeal since it’s local and the Johnnies play at Madison Square Garden.

“They are hot on me,” Briscoe told Mike Libert of the St. John’s Rivals site. “I speak to Coach [Steve] Lavin, [Assistant] Coach Rico Hines, and [Assistant] Coach Tony Chiles, I talk to them two or three times a week.”

Rutgers, which moves to the Big Ten, and Seton Hall, which hopes to build on its monster recruiting class headlined by McDonald’s and Jordan All-American Isaiah Whitehead, are rebuilding local schools hoping to keep Briscoe home in New Jersey.

“I want to give them a shot,” George Briscoe told SNY.tv. “If we commit before the season, if we commit before November and December and don’t get a chance to see them [next season] that wouldn’t be fair to them. If we say we want to see them and see what they look like but that doesn’t mean [we will sign in the] spring.”

In the meantime, Briscoe  was invited to the 2014 USA U18 National Team trials scheduled for June 9-19 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo.

“We are very happy and proud that Isaiah has the opportunity to compete for a spot on USA Basketball,” Boff said. “It is a tremendous honor and one that he has earned with all his hard work.”

Florida’s Billy Donovan is the head coach of the U18 team and Arizona’s Sean Miller and Providence’s Ed Cooley are assistants.

“He’s going to be at USA Basketball with Sean and Billy Donovan and Ed Cooley,” George Briscoe said of Isaiah. “All those guys are recruiting him.”
