CGauL6iUcAAgVJtWEST ORANGE, N.J. – One of the most talked about players in the Class of 2016, Vermont Academy guard Bruce Brown was looking forward to visiting St. John’s on Sunday following the Mary Kline Classic.

St. John’s offered the 6-foot-3 Brown at halftime of a game at the Nike EYBL stop in Lexington, Ky.

“I don’t know a lot [about St. John’s], but I’m going to meet with Chris Mullin,” Brown told SNY.tv before scoring 26 points in a loss in the Underclassmen Game. “I like him, he’s a cool person, I like him a lot.”

Brown, like many St. John’s targets, likes that Mullin has experience as an NBA player and Hall of Famer.

“When he first called me, I’m like, ‘Chris Mullin,'” he said. “And he told me he can get me to the NBA and be a really good point guard like Russell [Westbrook].”

Brown has averaged 16.4 points, 5.9 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 1.7 steals through three sessions of the Nike EYBL circuit.

Brown also plans to visit Arizona in the fall, and said Michigan, Indiana, Texas and North Carolina are recruiting him hard, although UNC has yet to offer.

On Michigan: “Michigan they want me to run the one. And me and Tyus Battle in the backcourt, that sounds good. He’s solid.”

On Indiana: “They want me to play the one also, score and make other people better.”

On Texas: “I like their system a lot, their uptempo press, gets steals, get out on the break. I like scoring in transition a lot.”

He plans to cut his list to five or seven in October and then go from there.
