Calipari Visits Tyus Jones (Again)

Three days after watching Tyus Jones’ on Wednesday, Kentucky coach John Calipari was back visiting the Minnesota point guard again Saturday.

Jones scored 20 points but his Apple Valley (MN) team lost to Park Center, 72-70.

“He was the only [coach] there,” Apple Valley coach Zach Goring told SNY.tv. “He continues to show his interest in Tyus.”

Michigan State’s Tom Izzo and Ohio State’s Thad Matta were on hand Tuesday when Jones went for 33 points in Apple Valley’s 98-82 win over St. Louis Park. Calipari then visited on Wednesday. He has visited Jones three times since Nov. 26.

Calipari will have Andrew Harrison running the point in Lexington next year, but he and his brother, Aaron Harrison, could well be one-and-done, opening the way for Jones to take over in 2014.

Calipari has previously coached a line of one-and-done point guards in Derrick Rose, Tyreke Evans, John Wall, Brandon Knight and Marquis Teague.
