malik-newman2Isaiah Briscoe wants Malik Newman to join him at Kentucky.

Ben Simmons wants Newman to come to LSU.

Newman says he could win an NCAA title at either school playing alongside either one of his boys.

“My boy Briscoe hits me up about coming to Kentucky with him and my boy Ben  is trying to get me to come with him to LSU,” the 6-foot-4 Newman wrote in his USA Today blog.

“It makes sense that they would because those are a couple of the schools that I’m considering, and I feel like if I team up with any one of those guys we can win the national championship. I really believe that!

“They don’t blow me up too much, but they’ll definitely hit me and let me know that they want me there with them.”

As we reported here earlier this month, both Briscoe and Simmons are working it.

“He’s coming to Kentucky,” Briscoe told me. “It ain’t a done deal but I’m going to try to get him to come down to Kentucky with me.”

The 6-10 Simmons hopes Newman chooses LSU, and says they could form a devastating recruiting class along with Antonio Blakeney.

“Definitely, he would be a great pickup but that’s a personal choice for him,” Simmons said. “If he doesn’t want to go that’s cool, but if he wants to come I think it would be great.”

Newman has said he wishes he could go straight to the NBA from high school, but since he cannot he is also considering Kansas, N.C. State, Ole Miss and Mississippi State.

Newman  said he could pull the trigger at the McDonald’s All-American Game set for April 1 in Chicago, but seems more likely to wait until after the NBA deadline date of April 26.

“I don’t even know when I’ll be ready to make a decision, but I know the McDonald’s game is a little over a month away and if I’m ready and comfortable about making a decision by then I would definitely think about doing it there,” he wrote.

“Right now I don’t have any plans to do it though. I still have to take visits and I haven’t set any dates or anything yet.”
