Jon Severe went off for 26 points and 10 rebounds to help lead Christ the King to its fourth Brooklyn/Queens AA Diocesan championship in five years, and will now take his final official visit to West Virginia Saturday, Royals head coach Joe Arbitello told SNY.tv.

Andre Walker had 15 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and Adonis DeLaRosa added 10 points and 8 rebounds for Christ the King in their 80-65 win over Bishop Loughlin at Christ the King.

“It’s great winning it four out of five years,” Arbitello said. “It’s the first step.”

St. John’s assistants Tony Chiles and Rico Hines were on hand to watch junior guard Khadeen Carrington, who had 21 points for Loughlin, which has now lost to Christ the King three times this season. Fellow junior guard Mike Williams added 13 points for Loughlin, which was held to 24 points in the second half.

The 6-foot-2 Severe will now follow up his championship with a visit to the Big 12 school.

“He visits West Virginia officially Saturday,” Arbitello said. “He will not visit Alabama.”

Severe had been slated to Alabama Monday and Tuesday but is no longer considering them, Arbitello said.

Arbitello said Severe will also take an unofficial to Pitt at some point after head coach Jamie Dixon just offered him.

Severe is also being courted by George Washington, Fordham and Duqesne of the A-10, Boston College of the ACC and Rutgers and Seton Hall of the Big East.

    SETON HALL WATCHES POINT GUARD

Speaking of Seton Hall, associate head coach Shaheen Holloway watched 2013 point guard Emmanuel Owootoah Friday night in Cordia (Ky.)

Owootoah, a Canadian, went for 24 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 stealsĀ as Cordia lost.

“Seton Hall loves him and will be back with the head coach [Kevin Willard] for regionals,” Cordia coach Rodrick Rhodes told SNY.tv.

Seton Hall has Texas transfer Sterling Gibbs lined up to play the point next season, but could theoretically add Owootoah or another point in the backcourt.

Seton Hall is in Kentucky to play at Louisville Saturday.

Alabama did not make the game but will also return for regionals, Rhodes said.
