Tyus Battle is expected to make his season debut for Gill St. Bernard’s on Saturday against Ridge after missing the first half of the season with a stress fracture, his father told SNY.tv on Friday.
The 6-foot-6, five-star combo guard is also looking to cut his list from 11 at some point in the future.
“He wants to play, high school basketball is part of his happiness,” Gary Battle said. “He needs to work on his conditioning, he hasn’t played in four months.”
Battle has cut his list to 11 schools, but his father said the time off has allowed them to watch a lot of college basketball and “hone in” on several schools.
“We’re going to start narrowing it down soon enough,” Gary said. “I’d like him to do that, so we’ll see if we can get him to do it…I think he’s ready to do that.”
Several schools remain strong in the mix.
“We still got Duke, Kentucky, Louisville, Ohio State is strong, Michigan is strong,” Gary said. “We’ve been in constant contact with those schools.”
Gary said they speak to Duke assistant Jon Scheyer “every day” and also texts with Coach K.
As for Kentucky, Gary said, “I talked to Cal about two weeks ago for probably about an hour.”
