Isaiah Whitehead met Wednesday night with coaches from Pittsburgh and Minnesota and by all accounts, the visits went well.

“Both made him feel he was wanted with the opportunity to play right away,” Lincoln coach Tiny Morton told SNY.tv.

Asked if the 6-foot-4 Whitehead would visit the schools, Morton said, “It’s in his plans.”

Pittsburgh head coach Jamie Dixon and assistant Barry “Slice” Rohrssen met with Whitehead, as did Minnesota head coach Richard Pitino and assistant Kimani Young.

Earlier Wednesday, Pitino and assistant Dan McHale watched 2014 wing Marial Shayok at Blair (N.J.) Academy.

Speaking generally about recruiting in New York/New Jersey, Pitino told SNY.tv: “I think the good thing about it, when you come to this area, you can get a lot of work done. If you spend two or three days here, you can go see seven, eight, nine, 10 open gyms. There’s great coaches, Players are well coached. They’re prepared when they come into college, and they compete at a very high level.

“The biggest thing that you find with these guys, they’re used to playing on big stages, whether it’s over the summertime playing at Rucker Park, or playing some other type of events. These guys are used to the limelight, they embrace it more than a lot of kids do.”

Also Wednesday, Seton Hall got a pledge from Bishop Loughlin combo guard Khadeen Carrington. Seton Hall — which has one scholarship remaining for 2014 — is due to host Whitehead on Saturday.

“Congrats To My Boy @kcarrington11 On Committing To Seton Hall,” Whitehead tweeted.
