You know you’ve done pretty well for yourselves when you land Chris Martin and Bruce Springsteen as your substitute singers.

That’s exactly what U2 did Monday night in Times Square. With Bono recovering from his recent bike injury, U2 got Martin to sing “Beautiful Day” and “With or Without you” while wearing a black T-shirt that read, “Substitu2.”

The Boss then did “Where The Streets Have No Name” and “Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For.”

“I wanna send this one out to Bono in Ireland,” Springsteen said before his last song. “Be well, my friend.”
