Syracuse-bound Chris McCullough, one of the top power forwards in the Class of 2014 out of Brewster (N.H.) Academy and Team Scan, will be contributing periodically to ZAGSBLOG this season. Here’s his first entry:
What’s up, world? Hope all is well. I’m Chris McCullough and I am writing my first blog, so thanks in advance for reading.
OK, so the last two months I have been playing real good basketball. I attend Brewster Academy. We have a very good, diverse squad this year with about eight Division I players. We are still trying to get good chemistry. We are now 9-4 although it is still early in the season and we are starting to pick it up.
Last month was the early signing period. It was good to see all the seniors sign their Letters of Intent and send them back to their school. I thought to myself that one day, I would be doing the same thing.
Recently, I committed to Syracuse University. The reason why I chose Syracuse was because I was just getting the most love from them. I took multiple visits to the campus and every time I stepped foot on campus, the team, students and fans were showing me love. I also built a good relationship with all the coaches.
Before I committed, I attended the Syracuse basketball camp. Also with me at the camp were Isaiah Whitehead, Tyler Ennis, Chinonso Obokoh and Thomas Bryant. I had a good time there learning the plays and sets that Syracuse runs.
I talked to my boy Isaiah Whitehead about playing with me in college. Right sure I am not sure where he wants to go but I do hope it’s Syracuse. I also talked with Jermaine Lawrence, another Syracuse target. He is also in the Class of 2013. I am not sure where or when he is committing. Wherever both my New York City boys end up, I will still be happy with their decision.
Some of you may have heard that I was trying to reclassify back into the Class of 2013. Right now I am still in the Class of 2014 and the reason behind me trying to reclassify is because I have been playing well. My skills definitely have gotten better since the summer time and I do think by 2013 I will be ready to compete at the college level. But in order for me to make this happen, I will need to take two extra core classes so I can be eligible to play next year.
