Incoming Syracuse point guard Tyler Ennis went off for 42 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists Saturday as Canada beat China, 110-100 in triple-overtime, at the FIBA U19 World Championship in Prague.
The 6-foot-2 Ennis shot 15-for-34 from the field despite battling the flu.
“Tyler put on a one-for-the-ages-performance,” Canada coach Roy Rana told SNY.tv by text.
“He willed his team to victory and showed why he is a special, next-level talent.”
The former St. Benedict’s Prep star leads the tournament in scoring at 22.6 points per game.
Canada was coming off a 109-67 loss to the U.S. in the quarterfinals Friday in which Ennis managed just 11 points on 5-for-14 shooting.
