UCLA’s Tyler Lamb to Transfer

UCLA junior guard Tyler Lamb will transfer at the conclusion of the fall quarter and conclude his college career at another school, the school announced.

Lamb missed four weeks of practice prior to UCLA’s 2012-13 season opener after having undergone arthroscopic surgery on his left knee Oct. 9. The 6-foot-5 guard from Covina, Calif., returned to action against Indiana State on Nov. 9 and scored four points in 14 minutes.

He sat out the team’s next two games with a swollen left knee and did not play in UCLA’s two games of the championship round of the Progressive Legends Classic in Brooklyn on Nov. 19-20.

“We are very sad to see Tyler leave our program,” UCLA coach Ben Howland said. “He is a great kid, and we have really enjoyed having him play for UCLA. We fully support his decision, and we wish him all the best in the future.”

Lamb entered his junior season having averaged 5.8 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game through 67 contests. Lamb had played in all 33 games (32 starts) last season as a sophomore. He played in all 34 games (two starts) as a freshman in 2010-11.

“I would like to thank the University, Coach Howland and his staff for the unparalleled opportunity to have been a part of UCLA’s program,” Lamb said in a statement. “However, I believe that it is in my best interest to find a new destination where I can continue to grow, both as a person and as a basketball player. I am eternally grateful to my coaches and teammates for everything they have given me, and I wish them the best going forward. I plan on enrolling in a new educational institution by next semester, and I have not yet determined my schools of interest.”

Seems gang green adopted the Mets philosophy of offseason signings.

Why sign Desean Jackson when you can sign Jacoby  Ford! SMH

It's funny how last year on this blog I got clobbered for suggesting we draft Cordarelle Patterson or Tavon Austin but a guy like Jacoby Ford who is literally never healthy is supposedly a good addition to a Jets WR group that has been perhaps the most injured group of WR's in the NFL the past 2 years........

PRETZEL LOGIC - twisted

ahh, I like the Patterson move. very low risk, high reward. He could be solid with Rex.

I'm waiting for someone to mention the Patterson signing so I can post the It's Happening gif again.

Ford is ok when healthy.  He is a depth guy.  The Jets clearly like speed under Idzik,  I expect the Jets to draft their number 2 receiver.

We just signed Patterson in case it hasn't been posted somewhere in this thread yet.

 I was hoping he signs with another team so I can continue fretting over how cheap Idzak is dam these Jets never consistent lol Just Kidding happy to have Ford on board...

With Jeremy Reeves & Jacoby Ford, we have 2 guys on the team with sub 4.30 speed which is basically world class, not including Stephen Hill who is sub 4.35.  It would be cool to see Hill & Ford in a spread formation. I know Hill can't catch yet but it'd be cool to see that much speed on the outside.

He was seriously injured a few times. He wasn't fully recovered as of last year. Didn't have that same extra gear he used to have. Maybe he'll never regain that burst, but a year removed he might. Apparently the Jets worked him out and think he may have. If not he won't make the team. Nice low risk high reward signing.

Ford has been one of the most injury prone WR's in the NFL.......Just what the Jets need.....another guy who can't stay healthy......Anybody who has watched the last 2 seasons of Jets games knows EXACTLY what I am talking about.....

Do we know signing details ? $$$$$

Gates will not be with the jets start of the season... Hill has to produce or he gets cut mid season!!!!

I compare this signing to Peterman an Garay last year. Vet camp bodies, might make the team, might not, but its good competition.

people need to realize that idzik is gonna sign ALOT of cheap vets with question marks, throw them all at a wall and hope some stick. Cut the ones who don't.

These signing do not mean they are gonna be starters or even on the team, its a good way to get cheap talent until the kids you draft are ready. Which is why Garay was cut, they seen how good the young DL was, and decided the vet wasn't worth the snaps.

This kid can flat out fly.  Our KR last year was anemic, with this contract if he can help us here its a good signing.

Why sign Jackson for an exorbitant salary when you have 12 picks in a deep WR draft?

Brendan
Brendan

@ramble914 He's a kick returner/backup WR. That's a fair comparison.

@bradysucks  Did this cost us a first round pick?  No?  Well, then.

@bradysucks So let me see if I read you...You're saying you don't like the signing? Although it seems you're doing a very good job of hiding it. I detect a hint of unhappiness.

@bradysucks  He's a good addition as a ST player.  Tavon Austin would've been a disaster had the Jets taken him over Milliner or Richardson.

Bent

@jake100

He's comparing a number one receiver with a guy the Jets signed to be a 4th/5th option and special teamer.

That's no less ridiculous than me saying this:

Jacoby Ford had 1905 all purpose yards in one season (2010).  DeSean Jackson has never exceeded 1600.  #sustainablesuccess

If the Mets sign a reliever off the street, are the media going to compare his win totals to the top available starting pitcher?

@WW85

Hill and Gates may be the 2 fastest guys in the NFL......who cares? They stink at football....

It's about production.......which is why Decker and Kerley are the only 2 real WR's on the team

twin

I don't we need a kr & pr. We don't have that on our team.....

Brendan
Brendan

@boomer  I wonder if everyone realizes just how mediocre (being kind) the KR unit was.

If they can start flipping field position around before they run an offensive play that's absolutely huge.

bradysucks

He's a chronically injured player

bradysucks

@DrJonathanReefer @bradysucks

I just don't understand what the Jets are doing......Hopefully I will after the draft......

There have been SO MANY opportunities to get better at WR and sign players with a history of production who haven't been injury plagued and the Jets have done nothing.......I don't get it

The Decker signing was great......but we need better depth at WR and we need durable players......I really think Sanjay Lal is a huge part of the problem......

WW85
WW85

@bradysucks Yeah. Neither of them can play. However, I'm not betting the farm that Hill is done yet. He may have improved in the off season. I read an article that he is putting in a lot of hours this past winter.

DrJonathanReefer
DrJonathanReefer

@twin

we are going to draft 12 players, some will be WRs or RBs. They will need a place on the team and KR could be one.

Bent, sack, 57, anyone who could remember, Jco returned kicks as a rookie right? Had a TD too I think. I remember Herm saying something like "I told you about that kid" in the presser. Could of been his 2nd year though.

funkymonk
funkymonk

Yes, "mediocre" is being very kind. Remember when Rex decided that having no punt returner was actually better than anyone we could out out there? Nick Folk was the only good thing about our ST last year, and better play from that unit could have netted us another win or two.

boomer

@Brendan @boomer  Yep.  And all too often overlooked part of the game.  People will bitch about it non-stop during the game but don't seem to realize you need to have the players to make it work.

bradysucks

Terrible production and chronically injured throughout his disappointing career.

Idzik had so many good receivers to choose from and he adds this guy...

Bent

@bradysucks  He missed two games last year...as a healthy scratch.

Brendan
Brendan

@bradysucks  Right, which is why his contract will probably be incentive-based with a low salary.

I'm not trying to say Ford is great, I'm saying to compare him to D-Jax is silly.

Weren't you complaining we had nobody to return kicks on the roster,  and now we sign somebody..............

@bradysucks  You don't understand why they are signing one of the better kick returners in the league?

@jake100 Ohhh so you posted that Manish link to make fun of it?

WW85

@bradysucks  Hill's football IQ is low because of inexperience(the Ga tech offense didn't throw the ball), not because he is dumb. He caught a really tough break last year with the vicious head shot in week 1 which I agree was partly due to a bad route. It's a long shot that he figures it out, but if he busts his ass, he can do it.

bradysucks
bradysucks

@WW85 @bradysucks

His issue is he is injury prone and he isn't strong enough to make it through an NFL season. He also isn't a smart player and he is very unfocused  (hence the drops).

WR is a tough position to master....and Hill has a low football IQ........

He currently is a one trick pony.....and he is not a productive player

WW85
WW85

@bradysucks I'm doubtful as well, but it's impossible for us to tell what his level of desire is. If he busts his arse, he can make it. His issue is that he can't run a route & react in advance to a defense. But if he works hard, maybe he can figure it out.

bradysucks

@WW85 @bradysucks

I am harder on Hill than just about anybody......I hated the draft pick.......but I PRAY he proves me wrong

@DrJonathanReefer

Yeah, his rookie year.  He had a TD in the must-win game against the Rams that took them into the postseason (they actually lost but so did the Bills).

Bent

@funkymonk  Lankster and Bellore were great last year, but yeah the special teams as a whole were really bad.

rstysanchz
rstysanchz

@funkymonk  to be fair tho since they moved up the kicking tee up 5 yds theres alot of touchbacks and when guys actually take the ball out they are starting 8 yds in the endzone now
