The Doneal Mack Odyssey took another turn and it now appears the 6-5 shooting guard will return to Memphis after he initially said he wanted to leave. He and his father were upset with his PT last year, and now he’ll have to compete with incoming recruit Roburt Sallie.
In other Memphis news, the Tigers are one of many schools involved with John Wall, the top player in the Class of 2009 according to Rivals, but Jeff Goodman says Wall’s top three are Oregon, Oklahoma State and Baylor. Hard to say how accurate this list is at this point as we also hear Kentucky and Oklahoma State but Memphis thinks they’re in it.
Christian Watford, a 6-7 small forward from Birmingham (Ala.) Shades Valley, says his top five are Alabama, Louisville, Memphis, Indiana and Kentucky, but we hear it will come down to Louisville and Memphis.
PHILADELPHIA – I’m working on a feature story for SNY.tv on Tobias Harris, the 6-7 junior forward from Dix Hills (NY) Half Hollow Hills West. Look for it in the next day or two, but I thought I’d throw out some comments from his father, Torrel, a former NBA player agent, on the recruiting process.
“A lot of schools are showing a lot of love, Wake Forest, Louisville, but we like Rutgers,” Torrel said. “Rutgers was one of the first schools that started recruiting Tobias when he was young.”
Added Tobias: “They’re the first to recruit me. They’ve shown a lot of interest and it is a good school.”
Torrel has known Rutgers assistant Craig Carter since Craig was a “kid” through New York City ball. When Carter was at Siena, Torrel told him to watch his son because he “was coming up.”

The 6-foot-9 Caracter, a native of Fanwood, N.J., was once touted as a surefire NBA pick before attitude and weight problems derailed his career.
He spent two years at Louisville and many figured he would get drafted late in the first or early in the second round. But he inexplicably skipped the Orlando Pre-Draft Camp even though Cardinals coach Rick Pitino wanted him to go pro.
Now he now must get his grades together before potentially transferring to another school. Pitino has made it clear that Caracter won’t be back with his team, so could he follow Jennings to Europe?
Speaking generally because he didn’t want to comment on Caracter specifically, Pitino said it was “very much” a viable option.
