  • Here are some quick notes and links to my stories from the day at the Hoop Group Elite Camp at The College of New Jersey.

**Read my story on 6-11 sophomore big man Malcolm Gilbert of Academy of the New Church at Maxxathlete.com.

Gilbert, who averaged 9 points, 13 rebounds and almost 12 blocks last season, said he already holds offers from Georgia Tech, La Salle, Rutgers, St. Joseph’s, Delaware, Maryland, Notre Dame, Virginia, Xavier, Tennessee and Villanova.

**Here’s another story on Khyle Marshall, a 6-6 wing from Pembroke Pines (Fl.) Flanagan High, who many are calling the top wing at the camp. He has interest from Miami, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Kansas State, Rice, Texas A&M, Missouri and Tennessee.

Have to take a break from hoops to get into this Madonna/A-Rod story, which is too juicy to pass up. A-Rod’s wife, Cynthia Rodriguez, is filing for divorce because of his extramarital affairs. While she has been linked to rocker Lenny Kravitz, A-Rod has been keeping company with Madonna, who claims they are just friends.

“My husband and I are not planning on getting a divorce,” Madonna said. “I know Alex Rodriguez through Guy Oseary, who manages both of us. I brought my kids to a Yankee game. I am not romantically involved in any way with Alex Rodriguez. I have nothing to do with the state of his marriage or what spiritual path he may choose to study.”

A-Rod, by the way, hit his 536th career homer tonight against the Red Sox, tying him with Mickey Mantle for 13th on the all-time list.

Xavier Henry, the No. 1 shooting guard in the Class of 2009 out of Oklahoma City Putnam City, has a top two of Kansas and Memphis, but will also visit UCLA and Texas.

The 6-foot-6, 210-pound Henry had planned to announce his school choice this week at the Lebron James US Skills Academy in lovely Akron, Ohio, but instead opted to wait.

“I was going to make an announcement this week about where I’m going to college, but then I found out I’m still not sure,” Henry told Gary Parrish of CBS Sportsline. “I talked it over with my mom and dad and now I’m not really sure where I want to go.”

I spoke to Tevin Baskin tonight and he says the recent report that he had cut his list to four schools was completely “false.”

“That’s false information,” said the 6-foot-7, 205-pound Baskin, a rising senior combo forward at Trinity (Conn.) Catholic. “I have not narrowed down anything at all. I don’t have a list as of now. I’m looking to narrow it down at the end of August or early September.”

A recent report out of Auburn said Baskin was down to Xavier, Auburn, Seton Hall and Virginia Tech, but Baskin says he’s looking at nearly a dozen schools.

“Right now I don’t have a list,” he said. “I have offers on the table from Xavier, Rutgers, Auburn, Virginia Tech, Seton Hall, St. John’s, Rhode Island, UMass, Fairfield and Oklahoma State.”

Brandon Jennings was supposed to have received his SAT score on Saturday, but it now appears the Arizona commit will have to wait until July 11.

The 6-foot Jennings has said he may head to Europe instead of college even if he secures a qualifying test score — assuming he can find the right situation.

The National Player of the Year, Jennings has taken the SAT three times, according to the Tucson Citizen. He passed on the second attempt, but was red-flagged after the second one because of the jump in scores from the first to the second test.

Collegeboard.com says that “a small percentage of scores are not yet available” and to check back July 11.
