Louisville suspended backup QB Matt Simms for the first four games of the season for an unspecified violation of team policy.

The 6-foot-3, 210-pound Simms, a redshirt freshman who played at Don Bosco in Ramsey, N.J., was competing with sophomore Tyler Wolfe for the No. 2 spot behind Hunter Cantwell.

Simms won’t be eligible unti the Oct. 10 game at Memphis. He is the son of former Giants QB Phil Simms.
