    Travis Ford secured one of the top point guards in the Class of 2009 when 5-foot-9, 160-pound guard Ray Penn committed Sunday to Oklahoma State.

    With John Wall likely headed elsewhere, Oklahoma State moved quickly to land a point guard for the future. Penn, out of Richmond (TX) Travis High, made news at the Reebok Summer Championships when he scored 37, 43 and 44 points in three games, setting several scoring records while playing for the Houston Superstars.

    He chose Oklahoma State over Missouri, Mississippi State, South Florida, Providence, Colorado State and Texas Christian.

    Penn joins Fred Gulley and Trenton Marshall as 2009 Oklahoma State commitments.

    Dominic Cheek, Lance Stephenson, Recruiting

    Lance Stephenson, Dexter Strickland and Greg Echenique are among those who are participating in the adidas Basketball Experience, which began Thursday in Dallas .

    The adidas Basketball Experience includes eight international teams, each of which will be coached by a former NBA head coach and will include current NBA players as mentors. Paul Silas is the Executive Head Coach of the American team. Each of the seven regional teams will consist of 12-15 of the top players from each region.

    Recruiting, Seton Hall, St. John's


    Jordan Williams, a 6-9, 245-pound power forward from Torrington (Conn.) High, has picked up a lot of offers with his strong play this summer, but says “St. John’s has been there before the spring.”

    Williams told Rivals he has offers from Georgetown, Maryland, Marquette, Villanova, Providence, Connecticut, St. John’s, Xavier and Rhode Island and interest from Seton Hall, Wake Forest, Arizona, Pittsburgh and Siena. (Maryland is recruiting him pretty hard.)

    Williams has a sister who attends St. John’s and he is also close friends with Trinity Catholic standout Tevin Baskin, who is also friendly with Da’Shena Stevens, an incoming member of the St. John’s women’s basketball team.

    John Wall, Memphis, Recruiting

    John Wall still hasn’t made his college choice and is open to options, according to Levi Beckwith, Wall’s coach at Word of God Academy in Raleigh, N.C.

    “I spoke to John Wall a few minutes ago and at this point he’s still undecided and he’s going to be talking to some schools that have expressed interest in him,” Beckwith said during a radio interview with Bomani Jones. “His options are still open and we have done that by talking to some coaches that know that it’s not a done deal where he’s going, I’ll just say that.”

    Baylor, Oklahoma State, Kansas, Kentucky, Memphis, Oregon, North Carolina State, Southern California and Texas have been on Wall’s list, but many observers assume he will end up at Baylor now that his summer ball coach, Dwon Clifton, has taken a job as the Director of Player Development under Baylor head coach Scott Drew.

    Louisville, Marquette, Providence, St. John's, UConn

    Omari Lawrence will be touring some Big East schools soon.

    The 6-foot-4, 185-pound Lawrence will visit UConn next weekend and Louisville at the end of the month (Aug. 31).

    Lawrence, ranked No. 32 among shooting guards in the Class of 2009 by Rivals, also lists St. John’s, Florida, South Florida, Providence and Marquette among his top options.

    “St. John’s is my favorite,” Lawrence said in a text message.
