  • Fresh off an appearance in Friday night’s Boost Mobile Elite 24 event in New York in which he scored 13 points in a winning effort, Jordan Hamilton and his family drove to UConn Saturday for an unofficial visit.

The 6-foot-7, 210-pound small forward out of Dominguez High in Compton, Calif. was making his second visit to Storrs after attending the Elite Camp there last year.

“I came up today with my family,” Hamilton said Saturday by phone after dining with his parents, three brothers and sister at an Outback Steak House. “It’s a great school, great tradition. The wings come out of there and go pro a dime a dozen.”

Tobias Harris is planning a bunch of visits next week.

The 6-foot-8 combo forward from Dix Hills Half Hollow Hills West heads to Maryland (Monday), Georgetown (Tuesday) and Virginia (Wednesday). On Friday, he will go to Syracuse for their Elite Camp.

Harris then heads to Louisville for the Louisville-Kentucky football game Aug. 31.

“Coach (Walter) McCarty asked me to come that day,” Harris told CardinalSports.com. “I came down before once, and I liked it. Me and my dad want to come down there again and see it.”

It was big night for the locals in the 3rd Annual Boost Mobile Elite 24 event at Harlem’s Rucker Park.

Dominic Cheek of St. Anthony in Jersey City poured in 23 points and John Wall of Raleigh (N.C.) Word of God added 10, including a dunk that made SportsCenter’s Top 10 plays, to lead the Blue/Skip to My Lou team to a 135-121 victory over the White/The Goat squad  before a packed house that included Beastie Boy Adam Rauch and Knicks guard Nate Robinson.

Nike’s USA Select Team finished its Brazil tour Friday with a 4-0 undefeated record.  The team won its final game against Paulistano, 97-83 in a very tough battle.  Avery Bradley led the team in scoring again with 25 points, while Xavier Henry added 23. Milton Jennings had 13 points and four rebounds, Daniel Orton had 10 points and seven rebounds and Phil Pressey finished with nine points and seven assists.

Henry will make an official visit to NCAA champion Kansas the weekend of Sept. 19 and national runner-up Memphis the weekend of Sept. 26.

The Don  Bosco football team of Ramsey, N.J. will travel to De La Salle in Concord, Calif. for a nationally televised contest on Sept. 27.

The game will air at 10:30 EST on ESPNU.

Bosco is ranked No. 4 in the USA Today Super 25, while De La Salle is No. 7.

Bosco is the two-time New Jersey Non-Public Group 4 champ, while De La Salle is the two-time defending California Division I champ. De La Salle won a national record 151 consecutive games between 1992-2003.
