  • This news just in: newspapers are dying.

Every day seems to bring more news of layoffs in the business, sending more and more reporters running toward work on the Internet.

My advice: Get out while you can.

**The Daily News plans to buy out 25 members of its newsroom. The package will offer reporters two weeks of pay for every year served (reporters max out at 52 weeks of buyout pay) and six months of health care.

Mount Vernon senior guard Sherrod Wright will visit Xavier and Georgia Tech in September “for sure,” head coach Bob Cimmino said.

The 6-4, 190-pound Wright is the No. 30 shooting guard in the Class of 2009, according to Rivals.  Virginia, Providence and Cincinnati are also in the mix, Cimmino said.

When asked about Xavier, Wright told Musketeerscoop.com, “Their coaches keep in contact all the time. They are either in touch with my coach or in touch with my pops. They have just been in constant contact.”

Elena Delle Donne has left UConn for the University of Delaware, where she could end up playing volleyball.

“I have decided that in the best interest of both UConn and myself that I will not play college basketball this year,” said Delle Donne, a 6-foot-5 guard from Wilmington, Del., who committed to UConn last August. “Both UConn and I require 100 percent dedication to the sport, and as of now I feel I cannot give that level of commitment. It therefore would be unfair to the excellent program, Coach Geno Auriemma, the team, and UConn fans, for me to play.”
