BOSTON — Rollie Massimino cornered Jay Wright in the lobby of the Westin Waterfront hotel last Saturday, hours before the Wildcats were to meet Pittsburgh in the East Regional final at TD Banknorth Garden.
Massimino, the 74-year-old coach who led Villanova to its only NCAA championship in 1985, began drawing up a play that Pitt used for high-scoring forward Sam Young.
“You gotta stop this play,” Massimino told Wright, his former assistant and now the head coach of the Wildcats.
