If you are any kind of fan of rock ‘n’ roll, or any kind of fan of documentary films — run, don’t walk, to see Anvil! The Story of Anvil.
Check out the trailer here.
I saw the movie last week in Los Angeles with my buddy Stefan and it truly was one of the best films I’ve seen in a long time. It’s a real-life Spinal Tap about Canadian heavy metal band Anvil, which started out playing with Bon Jovi, Whitesnake and the Scorpions in 1984…and never quite recaptured that 15 minutes of fame. I laughed, I cried, it was a truly poignant and tremendous film. Michael Moore called it “The best documentary I’ve seen in many years.” And here a few more glowing reviews. Go see it, it’s at the Angelika in NYC right now. (Photo courtesy Brent J. Craig)
