    NEW YORK — Austin Rivers is “definitely” considering Duke even though he has verbally committed to Florida, according to his father, Celtics coach Doc Rivers.

    “He definitely is,” Doc said before Boston met the Knicks Sunday at Madison Square Garden. “It may be 50/50 given the day. One day he’s one way, the other day he’s the other. The great thing he has is he’s a junior and he can wait and see what both schools do and then make a decision from there.”

    Austin is a 6-foot-3, 175-pound shooting guard out of Winter Park (Fla.) High who verbally committed to Florida in July of 2008 following his freshman season. He is ranked No. 2 at his position in the Class of 2011.

    Old Knicks

    Finally, the Knicks surpassed the Yankees’ win total.

    For November.

    With their 98-91 victory Saturday at winless New Jersey, the Knicks won their second straight and improved to 3-9 on the season.

    The Knicks have now won three games in November (3-6), while the world champion Yankees (2-1) victory total for the month stands at two.

    Keep in mind that it is Nov. 21 and baseball isn’t typically played in November.

    “Very important,”  Knicks forward Al Harrington, who hit a huge 3-pointer down the stretch and finished with 17 points and 8 boards off the bench, told Tina Cervasio of the MSG Network. “Now we got two in a row, we’re on a winning streak so obviously it don’t get no easier.

    “We got Boston [Sunday] so we have to turn our focus to that and come out and have a good game.”

    Big East, Syracuse

    The Big East is now 41-2 and counting on the season.

    Sure, it’s early but that’s certainly a good start for a league that was supposed to be “down” this year.

    “It’s early,” Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim said Friday night after his team throttled defending NCAA champion North Carolina, 87-71, to win the Coaches vs. Cancer event at Madison Square Garden. “It’s better than losing games but its too early to think about that stuff.”

    Providence (to Alabama) and South Florida (to South Carolina) both lost Friday, otherwise the conference could have been a perfect 43-0.

    Seton Hall

    Seton Hall junior guard Keon Lawrence will be reinstated in time for the team’s Nov. 28 home game against LIU , according to multiple sources close to the situation.

    “There’s a good chance he could be reinstated by the LIU game,” said one source close to the program.

    After suffering facial cuts and other minor injuries during his car accident Nov. 9, Lawrence was medically cleared to work out individually but hasn’t yet been officially reinstated to the program.

    The 6-foot-2, 177-pound Lawrence was suspended indefinitely after he was arrested Nov. 9 for driving the wrong way on the Garden State Parkway and causing a two-car accident. He was charged with DWI and driving with a suspended license and then released on his own recognizance.
