PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Tom Savage isn’t sure which North Carolina defense he’ll be facing on Saturday at Rutgers Stadium (3:30, ESPNU).
Will it be the one with four potential NFL players, including star defensive tackle Marvin Austin?
Or will it be the one that has lost back-to-back 30-24 games while competing without those players?
“I know they’re talented kids but watching the film from the LSU game, their backups are right up there with them,” Savage, the Rutgers’ sophomore QB, said Monday after practice. “They’re great players. We’ve just got to focus on the X’s and O’s and not really worry about the personnel.”
