UPDATE: Amir Garrett was originally supposed to visit St. John’s this weekend, but the visit has been put off. He and D’Angelo Harrison are both supposed to visit St. John’s, perhaps for Midnight Madness Oct. 15, but will come at some point next month, a source with knowledge said.
St. John’s has as many as 10 scholarships to give for 2011 and head coach Steve Lavin has already landed verbal commitments from Queens wing Maurice Harkless and Brewster (N.H.) Academy forward JaKarr Sampson.
Garrett, now at Findlay Prep in Las Vegas, said St. John’s and Oregon topped his list.
“I’m considering St. John’s and Oregon,” the 6-foot-6, 194-pound Garrett said last month. “They’re at the top right now.”
He is also considering Boston College, Kansas and Miami.
