PITTSBURGH — Jeronne Maymon is not here with the Tennessee men’s basketball team and won’t play in Saturday’s SEC/Big East Invitational matchup with No. 3 Pitt (11-0).
However, all his grades have been posted and he “should be declared eligible” in time to play against Oakland Dec. 14, a team source said Friday.
“All his professors have done everything,” the source said.
Much has been made of the fact that the 6-foot-7, 258-pound Maymon, a Marquette transfer who had to sit out a year per NCAA rules, was waiting for a bowling grade to be posted in order to become eligible.
“All my grades are in; just need one to get posted on the main (web) site,” Maymon, a sophomore forward and the two-time Wisconsin state player of the year, told the Knoxville News-Sentinel following Wednesday’s practice. “It’s exciting, but I’m also a little nervous about playing in the game.”
The source said all of his grades, including bowling, have since been posted.
The News-Sentinel reported Maymon’s first-semester classload also included two psychology classes, a communications class and a musicology class.
