Dajuan Williams, a 6-foot-7, 190-pound combo forward originally from West Orange, N.J., has verbally committed to Iona beginning in 2012.

“Yeah, I just gave them a verbal,” Williams said Sunday by phone.

Williams is currently at Hill College in Texas and would have at least two years of eligibility remaining once he arrives at Iona.

Williams played with current Iona guard Sean Armand at CJEOTO Academy in New Jersey and has a close relationship with assistant coach Jared Grasso.

He attended the Vermont-Iona game Dec. 22 and said, “I could see myself fitting in there.”

As for his skill-set, he said: “I can run up and down all day. I can jump with anybody. I think I’ll be a better forward. I can handle and shoot. I can start the fast break off of rebounds.”
