UNION, N.J. — As Mike Rice scouted high school basketball games Sunday at Kean University, Kentucky assistant Orlando Antigua approached his old friend, smiled broadly and slapped him on the back.
“Congrats,” Antigua said, referring to Rice’s first Big East victory at Rutgers, an 85-72 win over Providence Saturday night that coincided with the Jets’ road victory over the Colts. “The first one’s always the hardest.”
