As Rutgers and Seton Hall continue to battle for the best spot in New Jersey, they are also recruiting a number of the same players. One in particular is in their own back yard and may end up a Pirate or Scarlet Knight.

Davon Reed, a 6-4 2013 guard from Princeton (N.J.) Day School, attended the game between the teams at the Prudential Center on Jan. 22nd when the Scarlet Knights won, 66-60.

On Friday night, Rutgers coach Mike Rice and assistant Jimmy Martelli watched Reed drop 33 points in a loss to Rutgers Prep. Reed has offers from the Scarlet Knights, along with West Virginia, Seton Hall, VCU, Temple, St. Joseph’s and La Salle.

Reed picked up the offer from West Virginia after assistant Billy Hahn attended Princeton Day’s practice Saturday.

“Rutgers is really keeping in touch, as well as La Salle and St. Joe’s,” Reed said. “It feels really good to be wanted and I’m looking forward to working harder and getting better.”

    RECRUITING RUNDOWN

**Kyle Anderson, the 6-8 point guard from St. Anthony, is expected to attend Saturday night’s UConn-Seton Hall game in Newark.

**Princeton (Md.) Day 2013 star Chris Thomas took an unofficial visit to Xavier Saturday for the Musketeers game against Saint Louis.

**2012 forward Landen Lucas of Findlay Prep (NV) is home for the weekend and plans on attending the Oregon game Saturday against Washington.

**Austin Colbert, a 2013 forward from St. Patrick (NJ), was in attendance for Friday’s Harvard-Princeton game in New Jersey. The Crimson are high on Colbert and are on his list. Colbert, who is a terrific student, is considering the Ivy League school. 2012 guard Maurice Watson of Boy’s Latin (PA) was also at the game.

**Friday’s South West Dekalb-Miller Grove game in Georgia attracted a plethora of college coaches. Assistants from Miami (FL) and Marquette, as well as head coaches Mark Fox of Georgia, Paul Hewitt of Georgia Tech and Roy Williams of North Carolina watched dozens of future Division 1 talent. Some of the notable players involved were Brandon Morris, Henry Brooks, Jordan Price, Tony Parker and Shaq Goodwin.

**Kuran Iverson, the cousin of Allen, and a 2013 guard at Northwest Catholic (CT) always tends to play pickup basketball games with his friends at UConn. In the past week, Iverson has attended two Huskies games. During the summer, he stated that his favorite was Georgetown, Allen’s former school.

**Rutgers assistant Van Macon recently watched 2012 forward Daniel Dingle of St. Raymond (NY) play.

**Georgia Tech joins N.C. State and Gonzaga as the latest schools to get involved in the recruitment of 2011 Brewster (NH) guard Eli Carter, according to his AAU Coach Eric Harrield. Wake Forest, Oklahoma, Virginia Tech, South Florida and Oregon State are also on the list.
