Kentucky coach John Calipari says he will give sophomore guard Stacey Poole more time to decide about transferring.
“You need time to make a decision about being in this program; I’m fine with that,” Calipari told the Lexington Herald-Leader. “It’s a big-time decision. … We all love the kid. It’s been hard. He wants to play. I don’t blame him.”
He added:
“My whole thing with all these kids is, you want them to reach their dreams here. They’ve got to believe they can do that.
“We’ll let him make his decision.”
With a slew of talented guards and wings on the team, including senior Darius Miller, sophomore Doron Lamb of Queens and freshmen Marquis Teague and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Poole may well be faced with limited playing time.
Poole sat out an exhibition against Transylvania last week and was not there when reporters interviewed players Sunday in advance of Monday’s exhibition with D-2 Morehouse.
He would preserve a year of eligibility by sitting out all the exhibitions.
