  • Amile Jefferson, the highly sought after forward from Philly Friends Central, is nearing a decision.

The 6-foot-7 Jefferson will sit down with his family next Sunday (Nov. 13) upon his return from an official visit to Stanford and discuss his options.

Jefferson is considering Stanford, Villanova, Temple, Kentucky, N.C. State, Ohio State and UConn, his father told SNY.tv Sunday.

“Stanford next weekend and then that’s its,” Malcolm Musgrove told SNY.tv by phone Sunday. “We’ll try to wrap this up shortly.”

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. — The No. 2 team in the nation crushed No. 1 on Saturday afternoon, but you probably won’t ready about it in the Daily News, New York Post or New York Times.

It won’t even make the Westchester Journal News.

    Why?

Because it’s junior college basketball and it just doesn’t register in the New York market — even when it’s No. 1 vs. No. 2.

“We struggle for notoriety, but it’s a good brand of basketball, a high level,” Jeff Brustad, the coach of No. 2 Monroe (N.Y.) College, said after his team destroyed No. 1 College of Southern Idaho, 71-54, at the Monroe College Athletic Complex in the Monroe Mustangs Invitational.

The NCAA is investigating whether Reggie Rose, the brother of NBA star Derrick Rose, purchased a plane ticket for Ryan Boatright during Boatright’s AAU career with the D-Rose All-Stars, the Danbury News Times is reporting.

An “NCAA source with knowledge of the investigation” told the paper Boatright, now a freshman guard at UConn, could end up missing “three to six games.”

“I am complying with the NCAA and the investigation,” Tanesha Boatright, Ryan’s mother, told SNY.tv. “My focus is getting Ryan back to what he loves to do, playing ball.”

Maybe West Virginia was distracted by the lawsuits.

Or maybe Division 2 Northern Kentucky is just that good.

Whatever the case, Eshaunte Jones hit a 25-footer with 1.1 seconds remaining to give Northern Kentucky a stunning 77-74 victory over West Virginia on Friday night in Morgantown, West Va.

West Virginia had tied the game at 74-all on a 3-pointer by Darryl “Truck” Bryant with less than 6.3 seconds left. Jones then dribbled the ball up the floor and drained a long 3-pointer with 1.1 seconds left, giving NKU the upset in the exhibition game.

“It’s a good win for the kids,” Northern Kentucky coach Dave Bezold told SNY.tv by phone. “To be able to go into a storied program like West Virginia and get a win, that could be the highlight of their careers at any level.”

NEW YORK — St. John’s guard Nurideen Lindsey didn’t touch a basketball for more than a year after his younger brother was murdered in early 2009, and considered giving up the sport he loved altogether.

“My mom threw every basketball in my house out,” the 6-foot-3 Lindsey said Friday at St. John’s. “We didn’t have a basketball in my house. I didn’t touch a basketball, let alone play basketball for almost a year and three months.

“I just spent a lot of time with my family. Our family bond, it got unbelievable after that situation.”
