  • Knicks’ Shumpert Out 2-4 Weeks With MCL Sprain

Knicks rookie guard Iman Shumpert will miss 2-4 weeks with an MCL sprain.

Shumpert collided with Boston’s Chris Wilcox during the third quarter of the Knick’s 106-104 victory on Christmas Day.

“I really don’t know how it happened,” Shumpert told ESPNNewYork.com. “I just remember being in the lane, shot going up, somebody fell into my knee. I think the initial scare was worse than it might be.”

The Knicks were counting on Shumpert to play meaningful minutes in the backcourt at both guard spots.

They are already without point guard Baron Davis (back) for potentially up to 8-10 weeks, and fellow point guard Mike Bibby also missed the game with back spasms.

“I’ve just got to be tough mentally,” Shumpert told ESPNNewYork.com. “Those guys were telling me it’s a long season, you’re going to hit bumps in the road. But I thought they were talking about some different bumps. I’ve got to get through it.”

Knicks big man Jared Jeffries also left the game during the third quarter with a calf injury after getting tangled with Jermaine O’Neal.

Jeffries could miss 1-2 weeks, the team said.
