  • Van Halen to Tour in 2012

    Share Zagsblog Share Zagsblog
Add Van Halen to the list of bands who will tour next year to celebrate an anniversary.

David Lee Roth will join guitarist Eddie Van Halen, drummer Alex Van Halen and  bassist Wolfgang Van Halento celebrate the band’s 40th anniversary.

I saw these guys from the front rows of Madison Square Garden in 2007, when they last toured, and they sounded great.

That was their first appearance with Diamond Dave since the ill-fated (and very short) 1996 reunion.

The band continues to be without original bassist Michael Anthony, who was replaced by Wolfgang, the son of Eddie and actress Valerie Bertinelli (whom I sat near at the 2007 show).

Van Halen joins The Eagles, also celebrating their 40th anniversary in 2012, and The Rolling Stones, honoring their 50th anniversary, among groups who will reunite/tour next year.

The band announced the news via its Website. Tickets go on sale Jan. 10, but no tour details have been announced.
