Jabari Bird failed to make the cut for the USA U18 team but still enjoyed his time trying out for the roster.

“It’s a real big honor,” the 6-foot-6 small forward from Richmond (Calif.) Salesian told SNY.tv before the cuts. “Me being invited, it’s a real big accomplishment.”

As far as colleges go, the athletic wing says his top two are “Cal and Washington.”

“To fill out the rest of my top five, I got Arizona, Oregon and Colorado,” Bird, the Rivals No. 7 small forward in the Class of 2013, told SNY.tv.

He visited Cal, the alma mater of his father, over Memorial Day along with 6-8 power forward Marcus LeeĀ of Antioch (Calif.) Deer Valley and 6-4 shooting guard Elliot Pitts of Concord (Calif.) De La Salle.

“I visited Cal a couple weeks ago,” he said. “I liked it a lot.”

He has also visited Arizona and told FiveStarBasketball.com he plans to visit Oregon, Colorado and Washington “sometime in the fall.”

Bird says he may wait until the late signing period to commit.

“I’ll probably decide by next spring,” he told SNY.tv. “Most likely that’s what it’s looking like.”
