  • Chris Obekpa may not have selected a college yet, but he continues to build an impressive resume in the final days of his high school career.

The 6-foot-9 shot-blocking sensation from Our Savior New American was named Player of the Year at IS8 after helping Team Flight win the IS8 Nike Spring Classic championship Saturday over the Rens Juniors, 92-83 in overtime.

Uncommitted Pathways junior Jordan Washington was named MVP of the final after posting 33 points and 15 rebounds for Team Flight. He had 15 points and 11 rebounds in a 94-68 semifinal victory over the Juice All-Stars.

Obekpa tallied 15 points, 17 rebounds and 7 blocks in the semis and then tired somewhat before notching 4 points, 10 rebounds and 6 blocks in the final.

Monday will be a big day for the Jersey Boys at Knicks workouts.

Seton Hall product Jordan Theodore and Louisville alum Chris Smith, the younger brother of Knicks free agent J.R. Smith, will both work out at the team’s Westchester facility.

Both are New Jersey natives. Theodore is from Englewood and Smith comes from Millstone.

The 6-foot Theodore averaged 16.1 points and 6.6 assists last season en route to second-team All-Big East honors.

Maryland transfer Ashton Pankey is headed to Manhattan after visiting the campus Thursday.

He chose the MAAC school over Iona and Fordham.

“Obviously, when I went on my visit l liked everything that Coach [Steve] Masiello had to say,” Pankey told SNY.tv. “Everything was really organized.

“He had pretty much everything planned out for me, winning games and trying to get to the NCAA Tournament and winning the MAAC. He talked about how I would fit in in the offense.

After waiting past the NCAA late signing period, 6-foot-8 forward Devonta Pollard pulled the trigger for Alabama on Friday.

The McDonald’s All-American chose the Crimson Tide over Georgetown, Missouri and Texas.

“They’re going to see a player with high energy all four quarters,” Pollard told Al.com after making his announcement at Kemper County (Miss.) High School gym. “They’re going to see a player that’s going to get up and down the floor and block shots and rebound.

“They’re going to get highlights. They’re just going to see a player that loves to play the game of basketball and hates to lose. I always want to win.”

Syracuse AD Dr. Daryl Gross says he meant to “reply all” in his email about Syracuse being “over committed” and unable to play in the SEC/Big East Challenge.

Asked if he meant to reply all or just to Big East associate commissioner  Tom Odjakjian, Gross told SNY.tv: “Everyone.. It was a transparent email to the entire conference meant for the conference…”

Gross sent the below email to all Big East ADs, coaches, league administrators and sports information directors. (SNY.tv obtained the email from league sources.)

I originally wrote that he mistakenly replied all. Turns out, I was mistaken.
