NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. — A slew of prominent coaches watched Chris McCullough soar to the basket for a one-handed breakaway dunk late in Team Scan’s victory over Meanstreets in a 16U game here Thursday.

“It feels good,” McCullough, a 2014 forward from the Salisbury (Conn.) School, told SNY.tv after going for 23 points in a 56-48 win that improved his team to 2-0. “After that dunk I knew me and my team were going to win.”

Among those watching the 6-foot-10 Bronx, N.Y., native were Billy Donovan (Florida), Tom Izzo (Michigan State), Tom Crean (Indiana), Bob Huggins (West Virginia), Scott Drew (Baylor), John Beilein (Michigan), Matt Painter (Purdue),  Fran McCaffery (Iowa) and Danny Manning (Tulsa).

Assistants were also on hand from Syracuse, Kansas, St. John’s, Seton Hall, Louisville, Arizona and others.

“Yeah, I notice them but I don’t pay attention to them because I don’t want it to mess up my game,” McCullough said.

McCullough currently holds offers from Kansas, North Carolina, Memphis, UConn, Syracuse, Arizona, Pittsburgh, St. John’s, Villanova, Rutgers, Miami, Temple, West Virginia, Providence, Louisville, Georgetown, Florida, Seton Hall, Iowa State and Hofstra.

His coach, Terrance “Munch” Williams, told SNY.tv, “Florida’s serious, Kansas is pretty serious, UConn is pretty serious, St. John’s is serious, Syracuse, ‘Nova they’ve been good, a lot of those guys are stepping up to the plate now.”

Williams said McCullough would cut his list sometime in September.

“We’re going to cut the list down, hopefully September,” Williams said. “Go through the unofficials, narrow it down, make sure we understand why each person is being cut off the list for legitimate reasons for what fits Chris McCollough and then go from there.”

Williams said the goal was to cut the list to “five or six.”

“That’s the hope,” he said. “You’re definitely going to try to eliminate a few. Hopefully, after this tournament he continues to play like a Top 10 kid and a  couple more [offers] might come.”
