Indiana is now making a run at Troy Williams, the high-flying Virginia wing who had a tremendous July at the Nike Global Challenge and Peach Jam.
“Indiana’s in there now,” legendary AAU coach Boo Williams, Troy’s uncle, told SNY.tv Wednesday.
“They have been really hard on him. Tom Crean was at almost every game [in July].”
The 6-foot-6 Williams initially planned to commit to either Kentucky or North Carolina in May, and that kept Indiana out of the mix early.
“They thought it was closed,” Boo Williams said. “They thought he was going to Kentucky or Carolina. Once it opened up they got involved.”
Boo said Troy’s current list includes Indiana, Louisville, North Carolina, LSU, South Carolina, Arkansas and Alabama.

As we have covered here in several stories, Williams and his AAU teammate, Anthony “Cat” Barber, are talking about potentially playing together at Louisville or Alabama.
Barber suffered a wrist injury last week and is currently in a cast, Boo Williams said.
He also mentioned that N.C. State was “talking about getting into the picture” for Barber, who lists Kansas, Louisville and Alabama.
“They’re talking about getting into the picture,” Boo said. “I don’t know where he’s at with N.C. State.”
Both Barber and Williams are slated to play for the “NYC” team in the Big Strick Classic Aug. 11 in New York, but it remains unclear if Barber will be able to play.
“His wrist is in a cast,” Boo said. “I don’t know how bad it is.”
As for Kentucky, the Wildcats are pursuing the Harrisons Twins and Andrew Wiggins, which could impact the recruitment of Williams.
If Wiggins reclassifies to 2013, as it appears he may, he could well end up at Kentucky.
If the Harrison Twins also land there over Maryland, Villanova, Baylor and SMU, that would give head coach John Calipari several talented wing players and likely mean Williams is out of the mix.
Wiggins and the Harrisons will face off against Williams in the Big Strick Classic.
