As Barclays Center gets set to open on Sept. 28 with the first of eight concerts from Jay Z, the NBA’s release of the league-wide preseason schedule on Wednesday afternoon confirms when the building’s main tenant will make its debut.
The Brooklyn Nets will make their Barclays Center debut on Oct. 15 when they play host to the Washington Wizards.
The Nets’ home debut will come two days after they open the preseason against the Philadelphia 76ers. The location of that contest, a Sixers home game, has not been confirmed, but it will reportedly take place in Atlantic City. If that is the case, the only suitable venue in Atlantic City for an NBA game is Boardwalk Hall.
After the home debut on Oct. 15, the Nets will travel to TD Garden to take on the Boston Celtics on Oct. 16. They will then play the Celtics and Sixers on Oct. 18 and 19, respectively, back at Barclays Center.
The Nets will close the preseason on Oct. 24 with a matchup against the Knicks at Nassau Coliseum on Long Island. The Nets called Nassau Coliseum home from 1972-77 before moving to New Jersey, where they played until the end of last season.
The Nets and Knicks will open the regular season against each other on Nov. 1 at Barclays Center in a game that will be nationally-televised on TNT.
