Andrew and Aaron Harrison are still setting up visit dates leading up to their Oct. 29 college announcement, but they plan on getting to SMU sometime this fall.
“Yeah, I’m pretty sure early October or late September I’m going to try and get up there for an unofficial visit,” Andrew Harrison told SNY.tv Wednesday from the Elite 24 game in Venice Beach, Calif.
The twins are considering Kentucky, Maryland, Baylor, Villanova and SMU and said they had no specific visit dates set.
Julius Randle says he has no problem with the Harrison Twins and would consider joining them and Andrew Wiggins in a potential blockbuster recruiting class at Kentucky in the fall of 2013.
“I think I’ve said it before, we would have the best class, if not the best class they’ve had before,” the 6-foot-9 Randle out of Plano (Texas) Prestonwood Christian told SNY.tv Wednesday by phone from the Under Armor Elite 24 game in Venice Beach, Calif.
Randle, the Harrison Twins and Wiggins are all slated to compete in the game Saturday night on ESPNU.
Marcus Lee was one of several recruits impressed this summer with Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski’s ability to simultaneously coach Team USA and stay in contact with recruits.
Lee described Coach K as having “crazy energy” when he does text recruits.
“Even when we’re texting I have to use way too many exclamation points just to keep up,” Lee said this summer.
Now Lee will get a chance to meet with Coach K in person when the 6-foot-9 forward from Antioch (Calif.) Deer Valley visits Duke Oct. 27-28.
Kentucky is pursuing Roselle (N.J.) Catholic forward Tyler Roberson and plans to come watch him at an open gym next month.
“I spoke to [assistant coach] Orlando [Antigua] on text and reached out to him today over the phone,” Roselle Catholic coach Dave Boff told SNY.tv. “They’re going to come here on the 13th or 14th. I’m not sure if Coach [John] Calipari’s coming or if it’s just going to be Orlando.
“But they’re definitely interested. They’re definitely going be in to see him a couple times this fall.”
Anthony “Cat” Barber will visit Kansas Aug. 31 on the first of his official visits, his mother told SNY.tv Wednesday.
The 6-foot-2 Hampton (Va.) floor general will hit Kansas (Aug. 31-Sept. 2), then trip to Louisville (Sept. 7-9), N.C. State (Sept. 14-16) and Alabama (Sept. 21-23).
“We were just trying to see when was a good time for everybody,” Pam Barber told SNY.tv of the updated schedule.
She said education will be her top priority in choosing a school.
