Austin Colbert, one of the top power forwards in the Class of 2013 out of Gill St. Bernard’s, will be contributing periodically to ZAGSBLOG entering his senior season. Here’s his first entry:

    What’s going on?

As of now my list of schools is Miami, Vandy, Georgia Tech, Seton Hall, Illinois and Memphis.

I’m going to visit Miami Sept. 16, Illinois Sept. 29 and  Vandy Oct. 14.

Coach L [Miami coach Jim Larranaga]  is a really good coach he and I have a real good relationship. We talk about everything from basketball to vacation. I know he wants to win and I respect that.

Vanderbilt is a good school both academically and athletically, and school is just as important as sports for me. The coaching staff at Vandy really have made an effort in recruiting me and I that means a lot to me.

Seton Hall has always been there. Coach Kevin Willard and coach Sha [Holloway] always reach out to me and it doesn’t even have to be about basketball and they are in Jersey and it’s good to be home.

Georgia Tech is a really good school all around Coach G [Brian Gregory] and Coach S [Billy Schmidt] are both really good coaches. They are really active in my recruitment and I have a lot of respect for their program.

Memphis has a great program on the rise and the staff are really excited about the future. Coach [Josh] Pastner is a great coach and really knows what he’s talking about. I really like Memphis and what they have to offer me.

Coach [John] Groce and Coach [Dustin] Ford over at Illinois have a new and exciting program in the making and they make me a top priority which I cannot ask more of as a recruit. I think that they are a great program and want to win. I respect them a lot.

Aside from my recruitment I recently started school again this time back in New jersey at Gill St Bernard’s for my last year of high school. Classes are really fun but hard work at the same time. All of the teachers are here to help and want the best for us as students.

Hopefully, I will like my time here at GSB ad can learn a lot. Basketball season is a couple months away we don’t really have a lot of time so as a team we decided that we should start preparing as early as possible. We’ve been in the gym really hard going at each other just as hard getting better and stronger and building as a team so hopefully we can go on to win the state championship.
