Austin Colbert is down to three schools and is closing in on a decision.
“Apparently, he’s going to make a decision by next week,” Gill St. Bernard’s coach Mergin Sina told SNY.tv Friday.
The 6-foot-9 power forward told SNY.tv he’s down to Miami, Illinois and Seton Hall, having cut Vanderbilt from his list.
“I think he’s planning on visiting Seton Hall,” Sina said. “I know he dropped Vandy off.”
Colbert has visited Miami previously and Illinois last weekend.
“Illinois was good,” Colbert said. “I had a lot of fun walking around campus going to the [football] game, interacting with the fans and alums. Also I met the coaching staff and then hung with the players.”
(Illinois on Thursday also landed point guard Jaylon Tate from Chicago Simeon. Read the story here.)
Colbert is a raw, but talented big man who will play the four at the next level before potentially transitioning into a three.
“He runs the floor as an athlete,” Sina said. “He definitely has potential. He has to work and get better on his skillset. He’s raw in a lot of ways
“He’s 6-9, gets up and down, is a good athlete. He’s got to figure out a way to get around the basket and use his height. He’s gonna be a four at the next level, not a three.”
