Gavin Schilling is headed to Michigan State.

“I proudly announce that I will be playing my college basketball at Michigan State University! Much love to all who supported me! #GoGreen,” he Tweeted.

The 6-foot-9, 240-pound forward from Findlay Prep picked the Spartans over Villanova, UCLA and Minnesota.

Schilling called Michigan State Tom Izzo on Wednesday to inform him.

“The whole winning tradition and how good Coach Izzo is at developing his players,” Schilling told SNY.tv by phone of why he picked the school. “And the whole family atmosphere I  went through on my visit with the players. I really got a good feel for the school.”

Born in Germany and raised in France, Schilling has called Chicago home for the last nine years.

He averaged 13.5 points and 9 rebounds while shooting 67 percent this year from the field.

“Coach Izzo told me he was recruiting me to play,” Schilling said. “How much I play depends on how hard I work this summer.”

“Gavin is a physical, high-motor player with incredible upside,” Findlay coach Todd Simon told SNY.tv.

“He has the ability to handle, pass and shoot for his position. He has developed a back-to-the-basket game. He excels at attacking in tight space which his face-up dribble attack. His future is bright because of his coachability. The way he practices, works on his skill sets and conditioning.”

Findlay Prep already has seven committed seniors: Fallou Ndoye (Misssissippi St), Nigel Williams-Goss (Washington), Christian Wood (UNLV), Benas Griciunas (Auburn), Stanford Robinson (Indiana), Allerik Freeman (UCLA) and Dion Wade (Auburn).

The Pilots are the defending ESPN NHSI champs and will defend their title when the tournament runs April 4-6 at Georgetown Prep in Bethesda, Md.
