Oak Hill Academy power forward Lennard Freeman has cut his list to five schools and embarks on a key visit today (Friday).
The 6-foot-9, 245-pound Washington, D.C., native has trimmed his list to DePaul, N.C. State, Pittsburgh, UAB and Villanova, he told SNY.tv.
Freeman will visit Villanova beginning Friday and then trip to Pittsburgh May 3-5. Freeman may also trip to UAB May 10, he told SNY.tv.
As for the Villanova visit, that would be the school closest to his home.
“I just want to see the whole school, the coaching staff, the players and how they play and see campus life outside of school,” he told SNY.tv.
On the upcoming Pitt visit, Freeman said, “We haven’t really talked about it. We’re going to be doing that.”
Freeman tripped to N.C. State this past weekend, where he was hosted by Tyler Lewis and Ralston Turner.
“It was good,” he said. “I saw the whole school, the players, what they got, what they need, how I can come in and fit. I saw the whole program.”
He visited Seton Hall for the Rutgers game in March.
“It was good,” he said. “I really didn’t see the campus life. They was on spring break. I met with some teachers, saw the players and everything. I saw the Prudential Center.”
Freeman is still considering attending prep school next year and reclassifying to 2014, but said he won’t decide until after his visits are completed.
“I’m thinking about it,” he said. “I can go either way. I’m going to decide after I take these vistis and I decide which school is best for me.”
EDWARDS TO NEW MEXICO
Arthur Edwards, a 6-7 forward from Northwest Florida, committed to New Mexico, coach Steve Forbes told SNY.tv.
Edwards helped NWF to a 30-4 record and the national runner-up junior college position by averaging 6.4 points and 3.2 rebounds.
A second-team All-Panhandle selection, he was named to the Region 8 All-Tournament Team. Edwards shot over 40 percent from the arc.
He will have three years of eligibility at New Mexico.
