Transferring Rutgers big man Derrick Randall visited Wagner Tuesday and is closing in on a decision.

The 6-foot-8, 240-pound Randall is also considering Iona, Pittsburgh and Minnesota. He is expected to visit Pittsburgh Thursday.

He previously visited Iona and has not yet been to Minnesota.

Randall, a Bronx native who played at South Kent (Conn.) and Paterson (N.J.) Catholic, averaged 2.1 points and 1.5 rebounds as a sophomore at Rutgers.

He opted to transfer in the wake of the Mike Rice scandal and could obtain a waiver to play immediately.

    MAGARITY CLOSING IN ON DECISION

Billy Magarity, a 6-11 big man who lives in Sweden but has roots in Philadelphia, is getting close to a decision.

Magarity is considering Seton Hall, Boston College and Temple University.

“Billy is done with his visits and now he is going to take some days to decide what school he will attend next year,” Bill Magarity Sr. told SNY.tv by email.

JOHNSON LEAVING SETON HALL WITHOUT RESTRICTIONS

As reported here Monday night, Kevin Johnson is transferring from Seton Hall.

“Kevin has decided to pursue other basketball opportunities. We appreciate his contributions to our program and wish him much success in his future,” said head coach Kevin Willard.

A source close to Seton Hall told SNY.tv that Johnson has no restrictions other than the Big East.

“He’s free to go anywhere he wants out of conference,” the source said.

A previous Tweet by me that Johnson was blocked from going to Cal-State Northridge was apparently intended as a joke by a source close to the program, and was not accurate. (My apologies.)

Former Seton Hall assistant Chris Pompey, who recruited Johnson to Seton Hall, is now on Reggie Theus’ staff at Northridge.

San Diego State was also originally in the mix for the 6-10 Johnson.
