    Share Zagsblog Share Zagsblog
Dom Uhl, a 6-foot-8, 195-pound forward from Point Pleasant (N.J.) Beach, has set visits to Boston College and Iowa.

He will visit BC Sept. 6 and Iowa Sept. 19. The news was first reported by Josh Verlin.

The 2014 combo forward will likely also potentially take another unofficial to Temple.

He also holds offers from Penn State, Maryland, St. Joe’s and FIU.

A native of Germany who has been in  the U.S. for about a year, Uhl is cousins with Rhode Island’s Jarelle Reischel, who transferred from Rice.

Uhl came to the U.S. for a better opportunity in basketball. Last season, he averaged 10.4 points, 10.1 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.7 steals at Point Pleasant Beach.

“[Reischel] told me that over there in Germany we don’t have college sports,” Uhl said. “He told me about all the opportunities here. That’s why I came over.”

As for colleges, BC head coach Steve Donahue, Iowa assistant Andrew Francis and Temple assistant Dwayne Killings all watched him this past weekend at the “Live in AC” event.

As for Temple, Uhl said, “Because they started recruited me kind of early, I got to know them very well.”

On BC, “It seems like a great fit for me and I like the coaches, too. Coach Donahue is a great coach and he was at all my games.”

On Iowa, “They were at all my games, too.”

Wherever he goes, Uhl hopes to be a “three, maybe a step-out four.”

“He’s got a high upside,” Point Pleasant Beach coach Nick Catania told SNY.tv. “He’s just starting to come into his own with all his skillsets. He’s a kid that everything is so knew to him, everything is going to continue to get better. His shot from last year to this year has improved a ton. His handle has improved a ton. His post game’s gotten better. And he’s got a frame where if he gets bigger and stronger, when he adds the strength he’s going to be a tough kid to play against.”

Uhl plans to take his visits and decide in the fall.

“I plan on committing before the college season,” he said, “but I don’t know when.”
