    Memphis, Miami and Missouri are the latest schools to offer 2014 point guard Tyler Ulis, his father told SNY.tv.

    UConn and Illinois have also expressed interest, James Ulis said.

    The 5-foot-8 Ulis out of Chicago Heights (IL) Marian Catholic has taken one official visit — to Oregon State — and has four left. James previously said his son would likely take officials to  Iowa, Michigan State and Florida State.

    USC, Purdue, DePaul and Northwestern are also under consideration.

    Isaac Hamilton reportedly wants to get out of his Letter of Intent at UTEP in order to play at USC and be closer to his sick grandmother, but UTEP coach Tim Floyd won’t let him leave.

    “Right now I’m not really looking into schools,” Hamilton told SNY.tv by text. “Just been out here taking care of my grandma.”

    Hamilton is a 6-foot-4 shooting guard out of Los Angeles St. John Bosco who first committed to UTEP last November. His older brother, Jordan Hamilton, plays for the Denver Nuggets, and his younger brother, Daniel Hamilton, is committed to UConn in 2014.

    Andrew Wiggins, Articles, Huntington Prep

    WASHINGTON, D.C. — It’s probably unfair to compare anyone to Andrew Wiggins.

    But because he attended the same Canadian secondary school, attends the same high school, plays for the same AAU program and approaches the game the same way as Wiggins, 6-foot-6 junior Montaque Gill-Caesar has drawn comparisons.

    “If there’s anything close to Wiggins it’s ‘Teki’ right there because [of] all the similarities,”  CIA Bounce coach Tony McIntyre, who coached Wiggins and now coaches Gill-Caesar, told SNY.tv.

    WASHINGTON, D.C. — Ja’Quan Newton is one of the hottest point guards on the recruiting trail and says he’s currently “wide open” in his recruitment.

    “I don’t really have a list now. I planning on cutting it down to five after the July period,” Newton told SNY.tv at the Nike Global Challenge at Trinity Washington University.

    His suitors include Minnesota, Miami, Villanova, Temple, UCLA, USC, Texas A&M, Oregon, Cincinnati and Seton Hall. Pittsburgh is the latest school to offer him.

    “I like every school that’s recruiting me right now,” Newton said. “I think I can play at any school. I’m just going to list it down to the five that’s best fit for me. Probably  [I will cut it] after Orlando, Fla., that last AAU tournament”

    WASHINGTON, D.C. — After somewhat of a slow start at the Nike Global Challenge, Marial Shayok heated up toward the end.

    In the fifth-place game on Saturday, the Canadian wing went for 22 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals in Canada’s 104-79 rout of Pan-Africa.

    Before that, he went for 15 points and 11 rebounds in an 88-72 win over France.

    In two games prior to that against American opponents, he managed just 9 points and 8 rebounds combined.

    The 6-foot-6 Shayok ended up making the International All-Tournament team for his late push.

    WASHINGTON, D.C. — Everywhere Minnesota’s “Big 3” go this summer, Richard Pitino and his staff will be there.

    The Minnesota coach knows that if he can land some combination of Tyus Jones, Reid Travis and Rashad Vaughn, it will not only be seen as a huge recruiting victory going forward, but it will also translate into winning basketball games on the court in the Big Ten Conference.

    And that, after all, is what it’s all about.

    So there Pitino was this past weekend, dutifully sitting in the stands watching Jones, Travis and Vaughn compete in the Nike Global Challenge at Trinity Washington University.

    WASHINGTON, D.C. — Canadian big man Chris Egi is on the move.

    The 6-foot-8, 215-pound center from CIA Bounce is transferring to Montverde (FL) Academy from Toronto (Ontario) St. Andrew’s for this upcoming season.

    Egi is also considering reclassifying to 2014 from 2015.

    “Next year I’m going to be attending Montverde Academy in Florida,” Egi told SNY.tv at the Nike Global Challenge before he was named International co-MVP along with fellow Canadian Montaque Gill-Caesar.
