  • Duke’s Rodney Hood is healthy, which could spell bad news for the rest of the ACC.

The 6-foot-8 Hood had to pull out of USA Basketball tryouts in June due to an Achilles’ injury, but the Mississippi State transfer is now back on the court.

“Rodney is healthy and has participated in summer workouts,” Duke associate head coach Steve Wojciechowski told SNY.tv, confirming earlier comments he made to ESPN’s Andy Katz.

North Carolina-bound wing Theo Pinson completed a brilliant summer performance Monday night by winning the Adidas Nations championship.

Pinson went for 15 points and 7 rebounds to help lead the USA Blue team to an 81-77 victory over USA Red in Los Angeles.

Pinson this summer has now won the Adidas Nations, while also leading USA South to the finals of the Nike Global Challenge and the CP3 All-Stars to the finals of Peach Jam.

Reid Travis added 14 points in the win, Ohio State commit D’Angelo Russell had 11 and uncommitted 2014 forward Trey Lyles 10.

Russell also enjoyed a remarkable summer. He won Peach Jam with E1T1 and reached the finals of the Nike Global Challenge with USA South.

Emmanuel Mudiay of Dallas (TX) Prime Prep, one of the top two point guards in the Class of 2014, has trimmed his list to five schools, according to Paul Biancardi of ESPN.com.

Biancardi Tweeted from the Adidas Nations event in Los Angeles that Mudiay is down to Kentucky, Kansas, Oklahoma State, SMU and Baylor.

“I’m going to cut my list down at the end of the month,” Mudiay said last month at the Reebok Breakout Challenge. “I’ll cut it to five and that’s the five [visits] that I’m going to take.”

Kentucky has offered two point guards in the Class of 2014 — Mudiay and Tyus Jones, who may be headed to Duke.

Michael Nzei, a 6-foot-7 forward from Our Savior New American, has been opening eyes with his prodigious rebounding skills at the Adidas Nations event and is adding offers as we speak.

Nzei now holds offers from Iowa, Iona, St. Joe’s Hofstra and Duquesne and has attracted interest from Pittsburgh and Oregon, assistant coach Eric Jaklitsch told SNY.tv.

Playing for Africa at the Adidas Nations, Nzei went for 16 points and 14 boards in a 74-68 loss to Jahlil Okafor and USA Red.

“Michael Nzei is one of the better rebounders in the country,” Jaklitsch told SNY.tv. “He is a quick leaper who is able to get off the floor in a hurry to grab rebounds.

glover-woodenNEW YORK – Former Iona College star Michael Glover has led the very definition of a star-crossed career.

From the now-defunct American Christian Academy, to suing the NCAA and Big East once the Clearinghouse deemed him ineligible at Seton Hall, to a season at College of Eastern Utah, followed by two standout years with the Gaels, Glover has been something of an enigma for a lot of years now.

Inside one month until his 26th birthday, Glover is removed from college and has a year of professional basketball under his belt with Hacettepe of the TBL, Turkey’s first division. Now, with seemingly less craziness surrounding him, he appears to be approaching the game with a much clearer head.
